"Funeral On The Moon" is Milad Khawam's musical journey through his personal experiences and emotions. The EP seamlessly combines trumpet, piano, and electronic beats to manifest a blend of electro-acoustic sounds. Inspired by the enigmatic beauty of the moon and his time spent alone in a forest, Milad's music is a testament to the power of music to transcend time and capture the essence of the human experience. Milad Khawam is a trumpet player, duduk player, and composer.
Hailing from Damascus, where he studied classical and Arabic music, he is now based in Berlin.
Khawam played principal trumpet with many orchestras between Europe and the Middle East since 2010. He has also been a featured soloist in various groups, performing at Morgenland-fest 2016. In 2017, he composed original soundtrack for “No Monsters in Berlin," a short film which won the Grand Jury prize of Diversity in Cannes Short Film Showcase. Khawam's compositions have been performed at German festivals such as Xjazz-fest Berlin 2018 and Fusion 2018. A featured soloist in the Jazzaar global ensemble in Switzerland 2019, Khawam shared the stage with the likes of acclaimed drummer Billy Cobham. Khawam was commissioned to compose and perform a music piece related to a subject from the abbasid era called „Aquamanile“ for the Museum of Islamic Art in a collaboration with Piranha records in Berlin 2019.
Khawam also produces electronic music and can often be found performing solo, he was also participant at CTM-Festival 2020.

TO THE WEST

Milad Khawam started composing his music album "To the West" in late 2015 during his journey from Syria to Germany. Speaking of the mental thoughts and psychological states that struck him during the road between East and West and was a source of inspiration and basis in the birth of the musical idea of the album. He wanted to document these cases as a musical form in a positive & ironic way, as it means to him personally, and could mean to many people who crossed that path at that time and to the present day .. The album includes contemporary music with a folk oriental character on the trumpet machine, it developed after the influence of several European cultures. the music was performed by Syrian, Palestinian and German musicians in Berlin.
