Berlin duo of baritone saxophone and drums whose album "Die Wildnis" is sparse, studio-driven and political.
Behind the album "Die Wildnis" are Oleg Hollmann and Sebastian Deufel. The Berlin duo's sound is founded on the restriction to two main instruments — baritone saxophone and drums — yet unfolds through the full expressive range of the recording studio. The collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Ruth Schepers lends the album's seven tracks a metallic sheen. Both its musical frugality and its context make "Die Wildnis" a political album moving between chaos, anarchy, abstract constraint, pointless freedom, harshness, melancholy and cynicism.
