TRIBUTE TO SONNY SHARROCK

Berlin-based drummer Laurids Richter is an emerging voice in the contemporary jazz scene, approaching improvisation as a meaningful and existential form of social interaction. His work focuses on reduced compositional material and open performance, often shaped in collaborative settings.

As a bandleader and sideman, he has collaborated with various artists and is active in musical projects ranging from jazz to electronic music. He is also engaged in the intersection of music and neuroscience, and works to strengthen music as a human universal in educational contexts for young people.

Richter initiated the quartet project ‘Tribute To Sonny Sharrock’, exploring the music of the iconic guitarist from a distinctly personal perspective. Recorded in early studio sessions, the project reflects his interest in capturing raw ensemble dynamics and immediate musical interplay.​
