Lukas Heckers
Berlin-based drummer & composer Lukas Heckers debuts with Now and So Far, a live-recorded EP that blends acoustic and electronic elements into a genre-fluid
mix of Drum & Bass, Dub, R&B, and improvisational sound experiments. Initially focused on instrumental music, Heckers’ shift towards groove-based songwriting - including vocals and rap - was strongly influenced by Los Angeles based artist and drummer Louis Cole, known for his expressive and genuine
songwriting framed by his unique sound. The desire for further personal artistic development led Heckers to move to Berlin.
The city, with its contrasts and energy, became the perfect backdrop for his inspiration in composition and sound research. Furthermore it ultimately helped him assemble his ideal lineup of band members.
The seven-piece band consists of close friends, each bringing their own musical strengths - from tight grooves to expressive soloing and immersive soundscapes.
With voices, horns, synths, guitar, bass, and drums all given space to intertwine, Heckers’ band creates a sound that is both precise and free-flowing. The EP was produced without a budget, purely through artistic commitment and collaboration,
capturing the raw energy of a live performance.
Lyrically, Now and So Far reflects themes of identity, heritage, and the tension between utopia and reality. From Berlin’s chaotic beauty to reflections on human nature, the songs are both personal and universal. More than just a debut, this EP
marks the beginning of a journey—one shaped by passion, resilience, and a vision for music that connects.
