Paul Kleber

Berlin double bassist Paul Kleber, a touring sideman for Studnitzky and Jazzanova, steps out as frontman on Little Home, a decade of living-room songwriting with longtime collaborators.
Berlin-based double bassist Paul Kleber has been known well beyond the city for years as a touring musician, composing and arranging for ensembles such as Micatone, Lisa Bassenge and JazzIndeed and performing with Studnitzky, Jazzanova Live, the Moka Efti Orchestra and others. With his album "Little Home" he steps forward as a frontman for the first time, presenting songs he composed in his living-room studio over more than a decade. He enlists long-time friends and collaborators - pianist and producer Uri Gincel, trumpeter Sebastian Studnitzky and drummer Tobias Backhaus, with guest appearances by established names from the jazz scene - and their long history together is palpable throughout. The record finally sheds full light on the multifaceted songwriting that his earlier collaborations could only hint at: the songs surprise, challenge and stimulate, and through their danceable, pulsating grooves a sweet, intimate melancholy shines through. The EP "Gamechanger Remixes" follows, with electronic reinterpretations of Kleber's composition "Gamechanger" by producers Matthias Vogt, David Delgado and the live techno trio Komfortrauschen, each transforming the original's deep techno vibe into a distinct, danceable take.
