Tenor saxophone, tenor saxophone, double bass, drums: the music of the Swiss collective „Shane Quartet” is reminiscent of the classical saxophone trio sound, which stands for maximum agility, lacking the presence of a harmonic instrument.
Using two tenor saxophones, doors open for new melodic interactions and polyphony, without forfeiting its airy characteristics. The quartet’s versatile repertoire, combines elements from modern Jazz to Twelve-Tone music and and leaves plenty of room for spontaneous interaction, from minimalist beats to heated dialogues. That is how the unmistakable sound of the band is created - the “Shane Sound”.

Die Musik des Schweizer Kollektivs “Shane Quartet” erinnert an den klassischen Sound des Saxophon-Trios, welches durch die Absenz eines Harmonieinstruments für maximale Beweglichkeit steht. Mit zwei Tenorsaxophonen öffnen sich neue Türen für melodische Interaktion und Mehrstimmigkeit, ohne dabei an luftigem Charakter einzubüssen. Das vielseitige Repertoire des Quartetts verbindet Elemente von Modern Jazz bis Zwölftonmusik und lässt von minimalistischen Beats, bis zu hitzigen Dialogen, viel Raum für spontane Interaktion.
