The Uproot Group

An international quartet bridging cultures, whose album Vampires fuses contemporary jazz, world music and chamber influences to explore otherness and the human experience.

The Uproot Group defines its artistic reason for being through the dialogue of cultures and openness to oneself, exploring notions of otherness, exoticism and heterogeneity beyond spiritual superficiality. The group comprises Alberto Tenorio on double bass, Jorge Fernández on drums, Josué Collado on piano, keys and guitars, and Enrico Gianfranchi on samples and production - musicians and artists with deep academic and creative roots spanning Mexico City, New York, Italy and beyond. Their album "Vampires" explores people's perception of themselves and the complexities of being human. Its heady contemporary jazz compositions, with hints of world music, samples that evoke obsolete notions of exoticism and classical chamber influences, become a vehicle for an immediate exchange of perspectives, wisdom and knowledge. Elegant and primal, Vampires discovers the beauty in the infinite diversity of human thought and culture, and was recorded, mixed and mastered by Latin Grammy winner Orson Ramírez.
